We, the Association of Community Youth Leaders of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu State, write with heavy hearts and deep sorrow over the gruesome and inhuman murder of a young, vibrant, and heavily pregnant nurse—a sister and daughter from Enugu-Ezike by name Mrs. Idoko Rita Ngozi—who met her untimely death in Umueri Ogbunike, Anambra State on 23rd of July, 2025.
The Circumstances of Her Death
According to disturbing report from the husband of the diseased, the victim was lured under the guise of offering medical assistance by someone she trusted—a fellow woman and friend. Tragically, instead of providing help, she walked into a death trap and was heartlessly murdered. The circumstances surrounding her death suggest a horrifying and calculated act, allegedly linked to ritual motives. Her body was said to have been dismembered—a barbaric act that has shocked our entire community and the nation at large.
Condemnation and Call to Action
We are devastated. This was not just a crime against one woman, but a violation of the sanctity of life, of motherhood, and of humanity itself. As youth leaders and representatives of a grieving community, we unequivocally condemn this wicked, senseless, and cowardly act. We call on:
- The Government of Anambra State
- The Enugu State Government
- The Nigeria Police Force
- The Department of State Services (DSS)
- All relevant security and human rights agencies
to thoroughly investigate this case and ensure that every individual involved—directly or indirectly—is brought to justice without delay. This is not just about justice for one soul, but about sending a strong message that evil will not go unpunished and that no life—especially that of a caregiver and an expectant mother—should be so cheaply wasted.
Appeal to the Public
We also appeal to all members of the public to remain vigilant, especially our women and youth, and to always verify the intentions behind every invitation or request, no matter how familiar the source may seem.
May Justice Be Served
May the soul of our beloved sister and her unborn child rest in peace. May her killers know no peace until justice is served.
Signed:
- Hon. Dr. Alih Barnabas Izuchukwu (Convener/President)
- Mr. Abugu Jonas (Secretary)
